The simple answer is that you hold onto the subconscious belief of feeling unworthy of receiving more. By assuming you do not deserve more than what he is offering, you end up settling for the bare minimum. Also, it many cases it can be related to some childhood trauma. Whatever you went through in your childhood became the catalyst for you to shrink yourself and adopt a mindset that normalized minimal effort as sufficient. When clearly it is not?

And if you dared to ask for more, then you automatically feel a sense of discomfort, as if you were somehow intruding in their life causing them an inconvenience. A person who love themselves knows that the bare minimum is not an option as they clearly understands their value and desires. So stop accepting the bare minimum and begin loving yourself. If he/she is not willing to give you the best, there is someone out there who will give you the moon and the stars.
