Why Do I Accept the Bare Minimum in Relationships?

The simple answer is that you hold onto a subconscious belief of you finding yourself unworthy of receiving more. By assuming you do not deserve more than he is offering, you end up settling for the bare minimum. Also, it can be related to childhood trauma. Whatever you went through in your childhood became the catalyst for you to develop a mindset that thinks receiving minimal effort is more than enough. When clearly it is not? Basically, this happens because your mind concludes that you are not entitled to be with a devoted and loving person like you so rightfully deserve. And if you dared to ask for more, then you automatically feel a sense of discomfort as if you are intruding them somehow or someway causing an inconvenience in their life. Another critical point in accepting the bare minimum is the fear of them leaving or no longer finding you attractive.

The willingness to accept the bare minimum is often grounded in past experiences or some childhood trauma. Those unpleasant encounters may have impacted negatively your self-esteem or the way you view yourself. It could be the root cause as to why you think that whatever is given to you is sufficient enough. That ideology could not be more farther from the truth. Stop accepting the bare minimum NOW because we all deserve far more than any hand-me-down. Reprogram your mind to expect the Best for yourself. One way to do this is by taking the action needed to learn how to love yourself, wholeheartedly. A person who love themselves knows that the bare minimum is not an option as they clearly understands their value and desires. So stop accepting the bare minimum and begin loving yourself. If he/she is not willing to give you the best, there is someone out there who will give you the moon and the stars.
