Thoughts of the Week #11: Super Bowl LIX, What Happened?!: From Lacking Creativity to Getting Booed

Week 11: February 8 to February 14, 2025

Super Bowl LIX, came and went in a blink of an eye. Along with all the anticipation surrounding such highly awaited sporting event. Also, congrats to the Philadelphia Eagles for the big win. GO. BIRDS!

It was an eventful evening, yet at the same time, it wasn’t. The commercials were good, but not memorable. I might be a harsh critic, but it is what it is.

Writing this post, I’m trying to think if there is a commercial that had invaded my thoughts once aired and sadly there hasn’t been any. I don’t know if it had to do with the budget or lack of creativity, but there were no unforgettable and compelling storylines. In previous years, the excitement for Super Bowl commercials lasted weeks both before and after the event. However, this year 2025 the hype about the commercials died within a day or so.

One thing I’m going to say is that people knocked it out of the park with the memes. There were some truly epic ones. Here is an idea: maybe the NFL should air memes instead of commercials in the next Super Bowl. Audiences could be more receptive towards memes while having the possibility to gain more notoriety.

Furthermore, what happened with Taylor Swift getting booed? She has been one of the most beloved artists in our generation, and now she is getting jeered by a stadium full of people. That was definitely a surprised; still, it doesn’t make it right.

With the attendees expressing their dislike, it shows how the general population is becoming immune to both Hollywood and the music industry. People are realizing how artists and singers repeatedly fail to be on the people’s side while not utilizing their influence to make a change and only for self-convenience. The coin is flips when artists seek-out the masses for personal benefit. It is impressive how the narrative is gradually shifting.

Super Bowl LIX will go down in history and we have to see what the next Super Bowl will bring!
