Let’s Begin to Celebrate the Journey and All Our Accomplishments

Why It’s Important To Celebrate The Journey As Well As All You’ve Accomplished?

Are you proud of yourself and how far you have come? Although you’re not where you wanted to be, you should be extremely proud of what you have accomplished so far. Take a moment and pat yourself on the back for overcoming the many hardships that life has thrown your way. And for that fact alone, you should feel immense joy and a sense of pride in yourself. Starting now, let’s make a habit of celebrating the journey and all our accomplishments.

Rethinking Societal Norms and Personal Fulfillment

Regularly, life is perceived as a timeline where we are expected to accomplish certain tasks within a predetermined timeframe. Commonly, this agenda is used as a measure to indicate if you’re keeping up with societal standards. Regrettably, it is often used as a system to calculate a person’s worth. For example, not graduating on time or deciding to postpone having children. Throughout the years, society has placed great emphasis on these two life milestones.

Finding Joy in the Journey

Currently, many millennials are choosing to delay parenthood or marriage. In the past, becoming parents and getting married were viewed as the ultimate achievements, signifying a fulfilling life regardless of the quality of the relationships. The happiness of previous generations often hinged on their ability to conform to societal norms. Who cared if they were unhappy or if their partners were abusive? Given, they were in marriages that met society’s standards, everything was then deemed acceptable.

Gradually, that has been changing. We are embracing the mentality of celebrating both the small and the big victories. It doesn’t matter if you are not where you want to be; the important thing is that you are doing your best to get to where you want to go. That, right there, is very admirable.

The time you arrive to your destination is irrelevant as long as you enjoy the journey. Enjoying the journey is all about grasping onto what life has to offer at the moment and learning with every step taken. The beauty behind our own respective journeys is that each step permits us to evolve into our greatest self, discovering something new and amazing about who we are as individuals.

Celebrating Progress Amidst Obstacles

The person who embarked on the journey is not the same as the person who reaches their destination. During the span of the odyssey, one can expect to encounter distressing situations that would test our sanity and ambitions, which is inevitable. Those grievances will challenge our efforts to complete our mission. Occasionally, you will question if it’s worth it to continue despite the many difficulties faced. What can I tell you is this? Those difficulties are there to test your willingness to fight for what you want. If it were easy, every human being would have done it.

Don’t let the length of the journey be a discouragement; instead, see it as the necessary path that needs to be taken in order to achieve your purpose. Although it might not be easy, you are moving forward. Every obstacle encountered should be seen as a lesson to show how courageous and strong you are.

Celebrate The Journey and Accomplishments

Each step taken should be celebrated as you are advancing toward your life objective. It might take you a little longer to get there, and that is okay. As Whitney Johnson mentioned in the article ‘Celebrate to Win,’ the importance of celebrating everything we accomplish, no matter how small it may seem. She summed it up perfectly in the quote below:

“Celebrating small wins stimulates dopamine release in the brain, a feel-good chemical that reinforces the learning experience and strengthens our sense of connection to those we work with. Change and growth are promoted through positive emotions more than through disciplined practice.

Whitney Johnson

The important thing is that you are not surrendering just because it’s hard or seems impossible at times. It’s easier to give up and let life pass by than to fight for what you desire. That alone calls for a celebration! A celebration to commemorate the incredible person you are and all that you have accomplished thus far. Lastly, always remember to be proud of how far you have become and to celebrate the journey!

It is something that should be highlighted more often. Regularly, we get excited for other people accomplishments. Then why we often fail to show the same level of excitement for the things we accomplish?! We ought to change that as accomplishing anything is a celebration within itself. Thank you for your comment! πŸ™‚

Such an inspiring post, thank you for sharing. I think it should only matter how many accomplishments you’ve made based on what you would like to achieve, not what others expect from you.

I’ve been working a lot on being more present lately instead of always looking to what’s next, what’s next, what’s next…I think taking time to celebrate even small accomplishments would help with that. πŸ™‚

Being more present and enjoying the now is something we should all thrive to. Unintentionally, we fail to see the beauty of the now as our entire focus is center on what to do next. Thank you for your comment! πŸ™‚

This is such an important exploration of how we celebrate ourselves (and that we should) and not to compare our own progress with others, especially societal “norms”. I find that I do still tend to talk myself down when I feel accomplished, and I am trying to reframe that mindset and turn it around as I should not do that. Great post!

It takes time to reprogram our mind and not to compare ourselves to other, it wouldn’t happen overnight. The aim of this post is to show that it is okay to go at your own pace as long as you are moving forward. This is a great post, it’s very relatable. We all have goals and sometimes we forget how far we’ve come when we start to compare ourselves to others who seem to be further along in their life plan. It’s ok to go at your own pace and take your time. It can be difficult but we’ve got to try and avoid comparing our chapter 1 to someone’s chapter 15.
