The Starbucks Teddy Bear Cup Hype vs. Reality

Exploring the Reality Behind the Starbucks Teddy Bear Cup

The Starbucks’ teddy bear cup, lets talk about it…

It’s official, we have lost our God-loving minds. That’s what it seems like! How can people go all frantic over a simple glass teddy bear coffee cup that is costing around $30? I don’t know if it’s funny or just pathetic.

One thing I have to say, I’m loving the DIY videos people are making to replicate the cup for a fraction of the price. Come to think, there was a similar version of a bear cup in the 90s. Don’t quote me on that, but I’m sure there was.

Sadly, people are going bananas over something that have already existed.  It’s not like it’s some innovative product that will change your life forever. Not the case!

Your coffee will simply take the shape of a bear when you drink it. That is the only big astonishment!!

It’s your money, and you can spend it however the heck you want. But come on, spending $30 of your hard-earned money on a teddy bear glass cup isn’t very logical.  Like I said; your money is yours. The teddy bear cup might be all the rage now, with everyone wanting it.  Although, we should be realistic about the fact that the hype will eventually die down and the teddy bear cup will soon be forgotten.

Imagine you finally have the cup, now what? You have a useless and non-functioning teddy bear cup, in which you literally lost sleep over, waking up at 4:30 am for it.  Not very practical, as its unique design make it impossible for the glass to fit in a standard cup holder. Sooner than later, you’re going to abandon the cup for its impracticality, and eventually it will be donated to Goodwill.  That’s the reality of the cup, it’s destined to end up in a secondhand store.

More than ever, we are so heavily influenced by useless trends that we end up losing focus on what is really important in life.

Of course, trends have always existed, but people weren’t as influenced by them as they are now.  Waking up early, in some cases at four in the morning to drive to a coffee shop just to purchase a glass teddy bear cup with a coffee company logo on it is insane.

We, as a society, need to analyze where our happiness lies and what actually is important.  Right now, we are so mesmerized by shiny objects that we are becoming desensitized of the true meaning of happiness.  If having a teddy bear cup would make you happy, then by all means, get it. But how long would that happiness last? Will it last for a short or long term, or until the cup lost its appeal and become forgotten?

Also, where is the compassion for ourselves and for others? People have become so irrational in their quest for obtaining these Starbucks teddy bear glass cups to the point of being mean, both verbally and physically to literally strangers. Nobody benefits from the ridiculous behaviors except the corporation. A corporation who will increase its profit with the sales of these glass cups, while the masses are scrambling and losing sleep over a simple, shaped object intended to hold liquid. The Starbuck teddy bear glass cup is cute, but not a necessity!
